Palworld breeding calculator and guide

Choose two parents to see exactly which Pal hatches. The maths is the game's own: unique combinations take priority, and everything else resolves to the Pal whose breed rank is closest to the average of the two parents.

Parent 1
Parent 2

Breed ranks 30 and 2520 average to 1275, and Blazehowl Noct sits closest at 1270.

Every parent pair that makes Blazehowl Noct

The short version

Every Pal carries a hidden breed rank — Lamball sits near the bottom, Jetragon at the top. Put two Pals in a Breeding Farm and the game averages those two ranks, then hatches whichever Pal sits closest to the result. Gender and level make no difference to the species; they only decide whether an egg appears at all.

The exception is a set of 185 hand-authored unique combinations. These bypass the ranking entirely — Relaxaurus and Sparkit always make Relaxaurus Lux, no matter what the averages say. They are the only way to get most elemental variants.

How breed rank works

Every one of the 260 breedable Pals has a breed rank stored in the game’s own data. Low numbers are common starter Pals; high numbers are the legendaries. The formula the game uses is:

child rank target = floor((parent A rank + parent B rank + 1) / 2)

It then picks the breedable Pal whose own rank is nearest that target. If two Pals are equally close, the tie breaks toward the one the game lists first internally — which is why some pairings feel arbitrary until you can see the numbers.

One consequence catches people out constantly: breeding a Pal with itself always returns itself. The average of a number with itself is that number, so the nearest match is the parent. That is how you farm passives without changing species.

Highest breed ranks

Why you cannot breed your way to a legendary

Because the game averages, two parents can never produce a child ranked higher than the higher parent. Pair the two highest-ranked Pals you own and the best you get is something between them. Breeding moves you toward the middle, never past the top.

So the legendaries have to be caught, not bred — and once caught, breeding one with itself is how you roll for better passives while keeping the species.

Passing on passive skills

The species is decided by rank; the passives are inherited from the parents. That is the real endgame grind — stacking Legend, Musclehead, Ferocious and Lucky onto one Pal — and it is why people breed the same pair hundreds of times. Choose parents that already carry the passives you want, because a passive neither parent has can only appear as a random roll.

Every passive skill and its exact effect

Practical order of operations

  1. Decide the species you want and check whether it has a unique combination.
  2. If it does, get those two parents — it is always faster than chasing the average.
  3. If it does not, use the calculator to find a pair you already own that lands on it.
  4. Once you hold one, breed it with itself to farm passives without losing the species.
  5. Keep a Cake supply running — it is the bottleneck, not the eggs.
